Text Box: War Lords

War Lords sit in Council
Deciding to decide

Realising the enormity of their
Imbalanced creation
Knowing that they must now choose
Those who remained human
Plagued by distant
Distorted
Voices of conscience

Their imbalanced creation
Overwhelmed notions of
Civility and
Merciful practices
Law making replaced by
Presidential decrees
Executive orders
Directives and
Unsound supreme courts’
Judicial Judgments

What is different
That was not
The same yesterday?
Wars and conflicts watered
Vines of change
Growth and
Prosperity

Destiny’s Rivers flow in
New directions
New paths created
New life propagated
Memory faded of distant
Events

Humanity survived
And Survival nurtured by
Fields of plenty
Population managed
Forests blossomed and flourished
Environment content
Plants and animals content
Hills and mountains content
Streams
Rivers
Seas and oceans content
Peace content

Greed
Arrogance
Unchecked lust for power
Injustice
Untruth
Disorder
Unkindness and
War
Discontent

Focus and Clarity returned
Gone
Grey areas
Betwixt the Ravine of
Right and Wrong
Choice offers universal standards
By which Humanity measured
Motivations
Yet we fudged boundaries
And become confused

Our Tree of Life contaminated
We resist the healing processes
And are led to
Battlefields of destructions

War Lords sit in Council
Deciding to decide
A decision must be made
Deciders become impatient
And restless
They prevaricate
Mindful of the enormity of
Their imbalanced creation

Human surrogates
War Lords’ enabling tools
Realised belatedly
The enormity of
Their collaborated
Imbalanced creation
Hesitation
Too late
Dissents not permitted
No turning back
No second thought
Pledges made
Pledges redeemed

Blood
Sacrifices of the
Innocents offered
Decisions made and
Sealed
The Gates are opened

Powerful
Crackling and
Deafening
Noise
Shattered quietness of
The Environment

Tumbling roars
Rushed forward with
Purpose
The crushes of
Destruction heard
In the distance
As human edifices lay
Bare and new paths
Created

Flocks of birds
In purple skies
Flying high in haste
With forlorn hope
To escape fiery air
And falling to the ground
Like rain drops
Never to rise again

Voice of Reason
Submerged under
Deep lakes of blood
War Lords become
Strong and mighty
They trampled on the
Rights of the innocents
The rulers could do no wrong
They prevailed

From the dust of
The Earth arose
Guardians
That stood in the way of
The War Lords and
Their surrogates

With their fiercest weapons
War Lords and surrogates
Attacked the Guardians of
The Earth

Surrogates puzzled at
The Guardians’ renewable
Strength
War Lords indifferent
Aware of the
Guardians’ Protective Powers
Having been defeated in ancient
Celestial combats

Humanity
The deceived
Continued to battle
Guardians of the Earth
With hope of victory
War Lords retreated
Realising they could
Not prevail

Humanity dwindled in
The heat of the fiercest battles
Transient values faded
Replaced by new
Realities

International boundaries melted
Border guards non-existence
Diseases rampant
Healers dead and dying
Civilised values distant memories

And scattered in small enclaves
Humanity searched for new values
Amid rotten
Rusting
Radioactive and
Germ contaminated
Relics and
Human deformities

The Tree of Life
Healing processes
Continue
Contaminants receded
And remnants of Humanity
Look to Space for a new beginning
Learning to respect Life
The Environment and
