CALLING ON SUDAN HISTORY Must not be disappointed, do not let it be So much blood have been splattered on the ground So many flesh have been torn In The fight for freedom and equality, freedom To express oneself in every form and to enjoy all That this beautiful earth has to offer.
WEAPONS! Weapons of mass destruction have been used To inflict great harm against each other But let it not go in vain nor be forgotten, that it Was all in good with what must happen today.
GOOD LEADERSHIP Is needed to fulfil the dreams of the people, leader of Quality, one that is righteous, strong and one that Possesses true love for the human race-not just for one’s self Although the possession of power springs corruption,
NOT IN DENIAL A Good leader will consider it a thing of the past, as the Recognition have been made, that the holistic good of the people Must be hoist over all.
The SOIL is FERTILE And the PEOPLE possess BRILLIANCE, but that will remain so If those qualities are left alone. The resources of humanity are paramount, Least are minerals, which must be developed to realize prosperity and peace of Mind. First, confidence and self esteem must be pronounced.
Okay There has been some infighting Sometimes we have to fight to overcome a little trouble. Forgiveness and the humility must be received by the opposition In the pursuit of unity, because if not, the task will be Much harder.
YES! The time is right, let the journey commence now-if not before. Start the effort to correct all the ills so that peace can be a thing of the Day. The ancestors of now must not winch in their graves, their blood and Tears must not be washed away with futility. Enough talking has been done, The time is dying for action. LOOK?! The sun is peeping over the mountain And wants to give audience to the day. Pursue the battle with confidence of victory and You would have already WON!

Editor’s Comments:
“FREEDOM RIOT”
Christopher Kinnock's “Freedom Riot” is a poem from a fired and sometimes depressed belly. It seems to be a loud cry for help - a desperate poem. A cry of sorrow for one’s people. A feeling of helplessness. ‘Hope fades – poverty rises’.
A lashing out poem. A poem about deception and betrayal. A call to attention. A sounding of the alarm bells. Wake up! Wake up! “the trumpet is now blowing”. A call to arms – intellectual arms, awareness of self! Yet – the Poet has a duty to his readers, his audience, has he not?, to search for Hope together, even in a situation of no hope. If necessary an artiste must take the lead and help to construct ‘Hope’ and reject ‘Death’. The Poet is the creative visionary.
Courage can also be found in life - living for one’s Just Cause. The poem suggests that people must be prepared to sacrifice life to make changes. Yet the greater act might have been to live and make changes. ‘Live for Hope.’ If we die, who will welcome Hope when she comes? And she will come. If nothing else, History taught us that in the middle of despair – Hope lurks in the shadow, readying herself to make her appearance. She must – she was summoned by the People.
The Artiste’s primary role is to inspire. To lift the spirit, as it were. Yes, point to current predicaments; but also show the way out of Darkness. The People’s Artiste must be able to see Darkness and Light, and lead the people into the Light of Hope, Love, Truth and Redemption.
“Freedom Riot” sung the Blues of the soul; but it must also make space therein to sing the Redemption of the Soul. If we are all depressed and enveloped in Darkness, who will see the Light? We have seen the Darkness. Show us the Light, the balancer. Give us a choice. Anger and frustration do not conquer Injustice.
“Freedom Riot” is another dynamic piece of work, demonstrating that Christopher Pinnock has keen eyes of observation for the everyday events and feeling of and care for the issues affecting ordinary people around him. Shocking reality, perhaps; but the artiste is not the creator of that reality. He is a mirror to the same.
